Gothic Vampire Statement Necklace with Black Onyx & Garnet

Sterling Silver • One of a Kind

This necklace was made as a relic — not an accessory.

Heavy, deliberate, and unapologetically ceremonial, it draws from gothic crown jewels, vampire medallions, and the opulent symbolism of 19th-century jewelry. It’s the kind of piece meant to be felt on the body — protective, grounding, and quietly powerful.

At the center is a long, faceted black onyx, polished to a dark, mirror-like depth. It absorbs light rather than reflecting it, anchoring the piece with a sense of weight and stillness. Above and below the onyx sit two Mozambique garnets — small but intensely saturated — like drops of blood set into silver.

The pendant is constructed from multiple heavy layers of sterling silver, finished with a hand-sawed lace border and die-pressed gothic appliqués. The silver scrollwork was formed in my studio using a vintage impression die, then hand-finished to preserve depth, texture, and shadow. Oxidation is left in the recesses to emphasize every cut and curve, while the raised surfaces are polished to a soft glow.

The overall effect is architectural and regal — less costume, more heirloom — as though it belonged to a high-ranking member of some ancient, secret order.

Handmade in my Fort Collins, Colorado studio.

✦ About the Stones

Black onyx has long been associated with protection, grounding, and strength, prized for its depth and quiet intensity. Garnet has been used for centuries as a stone of devotion, vitality, and protection — historically worn as a talisman rather than decoration.

✦ Care Instructions

This necklace is made for intentional wear. Remove before impact or heavy activity. Clean silver with a soft polishing cloth and store separately to preserve the finish and stones.

GARNET

Garnets are one of the oldest known gemstones. It was believed that garnets could shield the wearer from harm and warriors would wear garnets into battle as protective talismans. Garnets were also traditionally associated with love, blood, and one's life force - it is a stone perfect for a vampire!

BLACK ONYX

Black onyx has been used as a talisman of protection and focus by many cultures for centuries. Onyx is named for the Greek word onux for "fingernail" or "claw" and is the birthstone of Leos. Some believe onyx can absorb negative energy to protect the wearer from ill intentions. According to folklore, Cleopatra would wear black onyx jewelry to alert her to nearby danger. It is also believed that onyx holds memories, and can assist the wearer by providing focus and stamina to navigate difficult times or decisions.

I do NOT accept returns for:

  • Damage incurred with wear
  • Improper jewelry care (see my Jewelry Care page for proper care instructions)

To keep your silver jewelry looking like new, take that extra second to remove it before cleaning, bathing, swimming, or any activity that would cause excess wear and tear. Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, soaps and other liquids, as well as extreme heat.

If your jewelry becomes dirty, clean with a soft cloth or soft tooth brush and a mild soap if necessary (I use Dawn), or polish with a silver polishing cloth.
Please note that polishing cloths are infused with an abrasive and will remove intentional patina along with the unwanted tarnish, so take
care not to accidentally polish off the patina!

Finally, as a best practice, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with your complimentary anti-tarnish tab.
