About Silverthaw Jewelry
If you're like me, fast fashion jewelry has never been your vibe - you are a creative person and you want jewelry that is both high quality and ✨interesting✨. Your jewelry is a way to express yourself, and you don't settle for the mass produced stuff. Whether it's through wearing stones that you connect with, wearing one-of-a-kind designs that express your whimsical style, or jewelry that connects you to something you love - your jewelry is your personal talisman.
Hi, I'm Erin! I am a Louisiana girl currently living the mountain life in Fort Collins, Colorado. I've made all different types of jewelry from a very young age - from macrame to chainmail, and everything in between. I fell in love with metalsmithing after I took a class at LSU in 2015, and I've been continuously learning the craft in my spare time ever since. My day job is in data engineering and I have my bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In my (other) spare time I enjoy reading, knitting, and traveling - I am a huge nerdy fandom person and go crazy for books and movies.
I've always been fascinated by old styles of jewelry - whether it is ancient Greek or art nouveau - and I love jewelry that evokes a different time and place. When I was in junior high, I would sit in my bedroom and make intricate chainmail jewelry fit for a warrior queen - I loved fantasy stories and wearing fantasy inspired jewelry made me feel more connected to the characters I loved. I may be grown now, but I still find joy in these things - and now I design jewelry inspired by the elegant romance in vintage styles and heavily influenced by my love of magic and fantasy.
I work primarily in silver and sometimes even a bit of gold, with all-natural gemstones that I select with intention. I use traditional metalsmithing techniques such as fabrication and lost wax casting, and enjoy adding texture and visual interest by roller-printing my silver or using a die-struck component that I create myself in small batches. Many of my designs incorporate elements that I create from vintage Victorian or art nouveau jewelry impression dies - I love the idea that these vintage pieces of jewelry history get to live on in a new form. Since I make jewelry for the fun of it, my collections are varied and fit my own personal tastes and interests - you never know what I'll dream up next, and that's half the fun.
Come explore my jewelry, and find the perfect piece to express your individuality and turn a normal day into a magical one.
xx Erin
