Blackjack turquoise comes from a small Nevada deposit known for its striking contrast and naturally dramatic patterns. This unique turquoise often shows vivid blue-green color framed by deep brown to nearly black matrix — a combination created over millions of years as minerals settled and hardened within the host rock.

Unlike uniform turquoise varieties, Blackjack is celebrated for its bold character: patches of bright color, iron-rich golden tones, and high-contrast sections that make each stone completely one of a kind. No two pieces ever form alike, which is why collectors love this material for statement jewelry.

Much of the modern Blackjack turquoise on the market is mined and cut by members of the Otteson family, who have been working Nevada turquoise claims for generations. Their careful lapidary work preserves the natural texture and beauty of each stone, allowing the unique matrix patterns to shine.

Your handcrafted jewelry will be lovingly packed in a gift box inside a sturdy cardboard shipping box. I include an anti-tarnish strip that can be stored with the jewelry to help prevent tarnish as well as a complimentary polishing cloth to keep your jewels in top shape.

  • Improper jewelry care (see my Jewelry Care page for proper care instructions)

To keep your silver jewelry looking like new, take that extra second to remove it before cleaning, bathing, swimming, or any activity that would cause excess wear and tear. Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, soaps and other liquids, as well as extreme heat.

If your jewelry becomes dirty, clean with a soft cloth or soft tooth brush and a mild soap if necessary (I use Dawn), or polish with a silver polishing cloth.
Please note that polishing cloths are infused with an abrasive and will remove intentional patina along with the unwanted tarnish, so take
care not to accidentally polish off the patina!

Finally, as a best practice, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with your complimentary anti-tarnish tab.
