Blackjack Turquoise Statement Ring — Double Stone Handmade Sterling Silver

This ring went through more design iterations than anything I've made. Every detail was considered, reconsidered, and refined — the triple split shank, the fine silver pebbles, the vertical orientation of the stones. By the time I finished it, it had become something genuinely over-engineered in the best way.

The two Blackjack turquoise teardrops came from the Otteson family at the Denver Gem Show. What caught me about these particular stones is the way the color moves through them — less like the bold fracture patterns you typically see in Blackjack, more like watercolor bleeding into dark paper. Teal and blue-green washing through near-black host rock almost like stained glass. Both stones are slightly irregular in shape, which made orienting them into a clean vertical line a deliberate challenge — the pebble and petal cluster between them locks the composition together and keeps the eye moving straight up through the ring face. Up close, that cluster reads almost floral, like a garden party ring that got lost somewhere dark and dramatic and decided it preferred it there.

I set them in fine silver bezels with twisted wire surrounds and hand-formed pebble and petal accents, on a heavy triple split sterling shank that gives this handmade sterling silver statement ring the structural weight it needs at this scale. These stones are stabilized for durability, but turquoise is a soft stone. Avoid prolonged water exposure, harsh chemicals, and impact. Apply lotions and perfumes before putting on your ring. Polish silver gently with a soft cloth as needed. Note that polishing cloths will remove intentional patina — take care not to over-polish.
