Red Garnet Gothic Shield Necklace in Sterling Silver

This red garnet gothic shield necklace is a matching accessory to the ring of the same style. It features a sterling silver disc/shield that is lightly domed with a fine silver gothic flourish centerpiece and a sparkly faceted garnet. It is hand textured and oxidized with a lovely brushed finish. It is suspended via a sturdy jump ring from an oxidized sterling silver rolo chain in the length of your choice. The gothic centerpiece is die-pressed by hand from a vintage jewelry die.
Vampires have had centuries to hone their personal style, and I always love the ornate jewelry that most vampires wear in tv and movies. I'd like to think an old world vampire would rock this particular style.

GARNET
Garnets are one of the oldest known gemstones. It was believed that garnets could shield the wearer from harm and warriors would wear garnets into battle as protective talismans. Garnets were also traditionally associated with love, blood, and one's life force - it is a stone perfect for a vampire!
BLACK ONYX
Black onyx has been used as a talisman of protection and focus by many cultures for centuries. Onyx is named for the Greek word onux for "fingernail" or "claw" and is the birthstone of Leos. Some believe onyx can absorb negative energy to protect the wearer from ill intentions. According to folklore, Cleopatra would wear black onyx jewelry to alert her to nearby danger. It is also believed that onyx holds memories, and can assist the wearer by providing focus and stamina to navigate difficult times or decisions.

Your handcrafted jewelry will be carefully packed in a gift box inside a sturdy cardboard shipping box. I include an anti-tarnish strip that can be stored with the jewelry to help prevent tarnish as well as a complimentary polishing cloth to keep your jewels in top shape.

To keep your silver jewelry looking like new, take that extra second to remove it before cleaning, bathing, swimming, or any activity that would cause excess wear and tear. Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, soaps and other liquids, as well as extreme heat.
If your jewelry becomes dirty, clean with a soft cloth or soft tooth brush and a mild soap if necessary (I use Dawn), or polish with a silver polishing cloth.
Please note that polishing cloths are infused with an abrasive and will remove intentional patina along with the unwanted tarnish, so take
care not to accidentally polish off the patina!
Finally, as a best practice, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with your complimentary anti-tarnish tab.
