Dark and mysterious at first glance, the Iridescent Dragon Talisman reveals its true colors only when the light finds it.
An Ethiopian Welo opal burns beside the dragon in shifting flashes of electric green, crimson, blue and gold. Its colors appear, disappear and transform with every change in angle and light. No single color can quite claim it.
The Dragon Talisman is an ancient artifact representing the bond between dragon and rider—a token carried when a rider cannot have their companion at their side.
This one-of-a-kind medallion is individually fabricated from sterling silver, with a dragon emerging in sculptural relief from a weathered, timeworn surface. The dragon necklace comes with a 18 inch sterling silver wheat chain. Every scale, wing and claw is brought forward against deeply antiqued silver, giving the piece the feeling of an artifact with a history of its own—something carried through distant lands, passed between generations, or unearthed centuries after its rider was gone.
Beside the dragon rests a natural Ethiopian Welo opal, treated to create its dark body color. Against that shadowed background, brilliant spectral colors seem to ignite within the stone as it moves through the light.
Created for a rarer sort of dragon - one whose appearance cannot be defined by what you see at first glance.
The Opal
This talisman features a natural Ethiopian Welo opal that has been treated to deepen its body color. The treatment creates a dramatic dark backdrop for the opal's natural play-of-color, allowing vivid flashes of green, red, blue and gold to emerge as the stone moves.
The dark body color is the result of treatment and should not be confused with naturally dark-bodied black opal.
Because opal's play-of-color changes with lighting, movement and viewing angle, this stone can look remarkably different from moment to moment. The photographs show the exact opal you will receive under several lighting conditions so you can see some of its range.

Please note: This is the exact Iridescent Dragon Talisman shown in the photographs. Natural opal is highly responsive to its environment and may appear dramatically different depending on the light and viewing angle. This Ethiopian opal has been treated to produce its dark body color; its shifting play-of-color is characteristic of the opal itself.

✦ Care
Opal requires a little more care than many other gemstones, as it is very porous and fragile. Avoid exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, household chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners and extreme temperature changes.
Clean the opal gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth as needed. Polish the surrounding silver carefully with a soft jewelry polishing cloth, avoiding excessive polishing over intentionally darkened areas, as polishing can remove the antiqued finish.

Your handcrafted jewelry will be lovingly packed in a gift box inside a sturdy cardboard shipping box. I include an anti-tarnish strip that can be stored with the jewelry to help prevent tarnish as well as a complimentary polishing cloth to keep your jewels in top shape.

To keep your silver jewelry looking like new, take that extra second to remove it before cleaning, bathing, swimming, or any activity that would cause excess wear and tear. Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, soaps and other liquids, as well as extreme heat.
If your jewelry becomes dirty, clean with a soft cloth or soft tooth brush and a mild soap if necessary (I use Dawn), or polish with a silver polishing cloth.
Please note that polishing cloths are infused with an abrasive and will remove intentional patina along with the unwanted tarnish, so take
care not to accidentally polish off the patina!
Finally, as a best practice, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with your complimentary anti-tarnish tab.
