This sterling silver owl ring features a beautiful New Lander variscite cabochon with soft mint-green and pale blue-green coloring, surrounded by intricate charcoal-gray matrix with warm golden-brown accents. The stone's distinctive webbed pattern pairs beautifully with the detailed, antique-inspired owl design.
The owl is pressed from a reproduction of an antique jewelry impression die, then carefully sawed out and incorporated into the ring's design. The feather details and facial features are antiqued to bring out the texture, while the surrounding silver is polished to a bright finish.
The New Lander variscite is set in a handmade fine silver bezel, with a substantial sterling silver band that measures approximately 4.5 mm wide at the back.

Variscite is a relatively soft gemstone and should be treated with care. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, lotions, perfumes, oils, and harsh chemicals. Remove before swimming, cleaning, or strenuous activities.
Gently clean the silver with a soft polishing cloth, taking care around the antiqued details. Avoid silver dips and ultrasonic cleaners.
New Lander variscite comes from Nevada and is prized for its distinctive green coloring and intricate natural matrix. Often mistaken for turquoise, variscite is a separate phosphate mineral that typically forms in softer shades of green, ranging from pale mint and seafoam to deeper olive tones.
New Lander material is particularly recognizable for its striking patterns of dark gray to black matrix, sometimes accompanied by golden or brown mineral inclusions. These markings can form intricate webs around patches of green, giving each cabochon its own unique character.
The combination of soft color and dramatic matrix makes New Lander variscite especially beautiful in antiqued sterling silver, where the darker details of the metal complement the stone's natural patterns.

To keep your silver jewelry looking like new, take that extra second to remove it before cleaning, bathing, swimming, or any activity that would cause excess wear and tear. Avoid exposing your jewelry to perfumes, lotions, soaps and other liquids, as well as extreme heat.
If your jewelry becomes dirty, clean with a soft cloth or soft tooth brush and a mild soap if necessary (I use Dawn), or polish with a silver polishing cloth.
Please note that polishing cloths are infused with an abrasive and will remove intentional patina along with the unwanted tarnish, so take
care not to accidentally polish off the patina!
Finally, as a best practice, store your jewelry in a cool, dry place with your complimentary anti-tarnish tab.
